What Does Gooey Do in Racket Rivals?
Racket Rivals Gooey turns an opponent’s return into a chance to catch them out of position. This Legendary Awakening gives the shuttle a green, bubbly effect when you hit it. The next opponent who hits that shuttle becomes rooted for about 3 seconds, leaving them unable to move.
The trigger is the opponent’s contact with the affected shuttle. That makes the timing different from an ability that immediately knocks someone back: they play their return, then lose their ability to reposition.
Watch for the green bubbles to recognize the affected shuttle. Once an opponent returns it, look at where they are standing and plan your next shot around the space they cannot reach while rooted.

How to Unlock Gooey
Gooey belongs to the Legendary Awakening pool. To try to unlock it:
Image: Roblox / ⨯ Small World Games
- Visit the floating Awakening NPC.
- Use Awakening spins to roll.
- Use the Awakenings list to increase your chances of getting the Awakening you want.
You can earn spins through gameplay rewards or redeem codes. A Legendary Awakening is guaranteed after every 80 spins, but that guarantee covers the rarity rather than Gooey specifically. Other Legendary options include Wall Portals, Energy Drain, and Fake.
Keep that distinction in mind when chasing this particular roll: reaching the Legendary guarantee does not guarantee the exact Awakening you want.
How to Use Gooey During a Rally
On keyboard and mouse, press 2 to use your Awakening. Left Click performs a Swing, while holding Left Click performs a Power Swing. The separate 1 binding activates your Ability.

Build your play around the root’s short window:
- Watch who returns the sticky shuttle. The next opponent to hit it receives the root, so track that player instead of assuming your intended target will take the shot.
- Aim the follow-up away from the rooted player. Use their fixed position to choose a shot that demands movement.
- Account for the other defenders. Racket Rivals uses a 3v3 format, and rooting one opponent still leaves teammates who can cover the court.
- Coordinate your next return. If a teammate gets the following shot, call out the rooted opponent so they can attack the opening.
Treat the root as a brief opportunity to pressure court coverage. Keep tracking the shuttle after the effect triggers, and make the next shot count before the opponent can move again.
