Racket Rivals Teams: Ranked Positioning and Passing

How to Build a Team for Ranked

Build Racket Rivals teams around clear court coverage and deliberate passes. Agreeing on who receives the shuttle gives your teammates room to prepare an attack instead of chasing the same touch. Before a match, choose your sides and decide who handles shots landing between you.

Racket Rivals combines racket sports with abilities and awakenings, so coordination involves more than returning shots. Learn where your teammates prefer to stand, how they place their passes, and when they use their abilities.

Queue with familiar teammates when possible. Before jumping into ranked, settle these details:

  • Choose which side each player will defend.
  • Call whether a pass is going toward the side or middle.
  • Tell the receiver when you plan to change your usual pass placement.
  • Coordinate ability use so everyone understands the next play.

Cover Your Side Without Crowding the Middle

In duos, start by assigning each teammate one side of the court. Hold a position that lets you reach your area's corners, then dash toward the incoming shuttle. Resist following your partner across the court whenever they receive.

When defending, aim your return toward the corner of your teammate's section to turn the receive into a pass. Give them space to approach it and choose their shot.

For trios, agree on responsibility for the middle before serving. Keep the same principle: spread your coverage and call the receiver when a shuttle falls between players.

Use an air dash when you need the extra reach; it carries you farther than a ground dash. Dash toward a specific receive or recovery position instead of repeatedly moving without a target.

Use Your Team's Touches to Create an Attack

Duos have two team touches, while trios have three. Use those touches to change the shuttle's direction and prepare a teammate's attack instead of immediately sending every receive over the net.

On PC, press E to set. A set slows the exchange and gives your teammate time to prepare a more deliberate shot. Because setting has a cooldown, choose the moment carefully.

Practice this sequence:

  1. Receive from your assigned area.
  2. Pass or set toward your teammate's position.
  3. Let the receiver choose a straight shot, cross-court angle, or softer placement.
  4. Recover your coverage while they attack.

Alternate passes between the side and middle. Receiving in the middle opens attacking options toward either side, while repeatedly passing to the same edge makes your next attack easier to anticipate.

Call the change before making it. A middle pass only helps if your teammate is ready to receive there.

Mix Power, Timing, and Wall Shots

Charging every attack gives defenders a repeated rhythm to read. On PC, hold Left Click for a power swing or tap Left Click for a regular swing.

Charge when a set gives you time to aim. Near the net, try a softer cross-court hit instead of automatically choosing maximum power. After a high set, practice delaying your jump and swing so the attack arrives on a different rhythm.

Use the walls to change the return angle. Wall shots can drop near the net or between defenders, forcing opponents to decide who takes the receive.

Build variety into your team's attacks:

  • Follow a charged shot with a quicker tap.
  • Alternate straight and cross-court placement.
  • Mix wall shots with direct attacks.
  • Change the timing after a high set.

Defend against those same patterns. Call a short wall return early so both teammates do not rush into the same space.

Coordinate Abilities and Awakenings

Spirit abilities refresh after each point. Use them during the rally rather than carrying an unused ability through several points. On PC, 1 activates your ability and 2 activates your awakening.

Keep your set cooldown in mind when facing attacks that require a set to answer. Avoid spending it automatically on an easy receive if your teammate already has a playable pass.

Against a freeze on a low shuttle, use an awakening to let the freeze timer run down during its animation. Coordinate the follow-up hit so your teammate is ready when play resumes.

Practice the timing together before relying on it in ranked: call the freeze, activate the awakening, and prepare the next touch. That gives the whole team a shared response instead of leaving each player to react separately.
